Freeing your inner art...

Lately we have been involved on campaigns and events catering to younger generation. This has made us achieve great experience in dealing with children and driving their creative talent towards creating crafty creative items.

Every time we make it our mission to provide new workshop ideas and creative ways to excite people in the most experiential and creative ways. Our activations help in driving the creative minds of children and adults.

There are situations where a creative craft workshop experience is a perfect fit. These are times when parents usually linger around shops, cafés and restaurants (drop and shop experience) or sometimes we encourage them to join the kids and experience the fun.

Our expertise lie in creating experiences and activations to bring excitements and entertainment to the venue therefore it is very important for us to bring imagined ideas alive. This is how we created our Interactive AR Scanner Product “Imagination Alive”. Initially developed to cater to the younger minds to bring their imagination to reality using digital technology, we later realized that we are all have creative children within.

We love to see happy faces of children and adults when they are in the process of creating the images that mingle their minds using the supplies and means that we provide. We not only create a relaxing, fun atmosphere but also keep a learning environmentwhere they learn new skills and techniques.

Many professional adults do not have time or means to create anything other than schedules, excels, presentations and so on. Usually adults are shy about using colouring books and learning craft skills and tricks and leave it for the children. However, our Interactive AR Scanner provides opportunity to not just create but free your mind from all the stress of a busy life; meditate and enjoy the moment.

Image of our AR scanner activation in action

Our Interactive AR Scanner is a very crowd pulling activation engaging multiple age groups. All you have to do is draw your imagination on a piece of paper, scan it and we create the reality for you. You can colour it the way you want, go crazy on the colour combinations and see how it looks live, animating on the digital screen.

Through this activation, we create a theme based storyline and provide people with character stencils and images to go with the storyline. All you have to do is fill it with colours and scan.

We would like all of us to be the ambassadors of a movement for creativity and not to shy away from experiencing and creating. We would like to encourage adults to take part in as many creative activities as they can, because we want our digital experience to be open to all. This will help shift the focus on creating and will leave the everyday problems behind and calm their minds from the busy life they have.

Colouring, for years now, have been a stress reliever which is why researchers, art therapists and schools encourage it. We are taking a step forward and encouraging this according to what people would be interested in the 21stcentury- By Digital Means. Working in the experiential marketing field gives us a great opportunity in studying and witnessing human reaction and we build upon these experiences and learn from them. We know that inside there is a child in every adult wanting to try, interact and experience the world to its fullest. We hope to open up the excitement about colouring with this new product of ours and hope to incorporate it in many upcoming creative events.

Companies spend enormous amounts on marketing. Depending on the size of the business or the location, the percentages can go from 2% up to 20%. With the rise of Social Media and digital platforms, marketing has gotten a lot more interesting recently and Purple Glo are on the doorstep of the experimental marketing revolution.

Why should you and your company consider investing time and money in experiential marketing?

Because the consumers demand it. A nice logo and a billboard on the highway just isn’t enough anymore. People today want to experience new things and be able to interact with the brands they love.

What can the Social Media vending machine do to benefit me as a company?

Everybody loves freebies. This technology hones existing marketing concepts and caters them to a digital first world. A social media vending machine helps create brand awareness, both online and offline; while offering consumers an interactive and inclusive way to take home a gift.

Okay, okay, it sounds decent, but how does it work?

First of all, it is not magic. It only works if you DO take social media seriously, and have at least one platform frequently curated by yourself or a social media marketer.

Once you have all that, it’s a piece of cake! Choose an event or a location, where you know your company’s audience would show up and then pop your machine up in a sweet spot. The machine looks like a normal vending machine, but doesn’t take money. It takes ‘likes’, ‘followings’ and ‘hashtags’ instead of coins. You can instruct people to do any of the above related to your company, and then the magic happens. They get an instant freebie.

That’s not the end of it. You can customize your vending machine however you wish, incorporating touch and motion games to release products, where players need to reach a score to get the item.

How is this better than a promoter giving away the items?

You create a buzz and excitement around your brand. You can communicate to the world that your company knows how to be fun and engaging.

Imagine all the posts, shares and conversations on online platforms. For a short period of time you get your own little army of social media marketers.

This is only where the journey begins. There is a lot more you can do to extend your social interaction. You can encourage consumers to post selfies with branded products to participate in contests and much more.

With a growing amount of consumers demanding more from brands; Social Media vending machines are a natural transition for businesses to venture in to the experiential marketing world as they take advantage of familiar social media platforms making engagement a smooth and rewarding process.

Why not give it a try on your next event!?

Virtual (Ideas) : Real...

When you look around and all of a sudden you see everyone using Virtual Reality you’re probably thinking why it took so long for people figure out how to put their head inside a box that takes them into another world.

Well, turns out it didn’t actually take so long and did not necessarily need you to put your head in a box. The concept of Virtual Reality has been around since the 1950’s – starting off with painting murals on all the walls of a room for the viewers to really grasp the surroundings, moving on to flight simulators, the sensorama and so forth.

Finally, after arcade machines and Nintendo virtual boy, Nintendo Wii and The Oculus rift, came the affordable and easy to use Google cardboard and Samsung’s VR Gear.

So how come all of a sudden VR is the next big thing? It has been the next big thing since the 1950’s…

Are we late? Are we ignorant? Or are we just overlooking the importance of how to market the product?

Today, virtual reality is used to live stream events and let customers get a feel of the event that’s going on, to help children understand concepts better, to personalize games, ads and even transport people to a new city, town or planet.

There has been a rise in the number of mainstream customers interested in the concept of virtual reality. A study by Nielsen’ Media Lab showed that 24% of mainstream consumers said they will likely use or purchase VR in the next year. Another 20 percent said they don’t plan to try it, but expressed increased interest after learning just a little about the basics.

This study, when compared to the mentality of the 1960-70s shows that there has been a rapid growth in the acceptance and usage of Virtual Reality.

So what caused this widespread use and acceptance of this technology?

Since the advent of gaining profits by focusing the product on consumer satisfaction, tech giants like Apple, Google, Yahoo and Facebook started allowing their customers to personalize their homepages. In todays world, where you are given the privilege to customize just about anything, it is but obvious that consumers are hooked because Virtual Reality is a suitably abstract concept that we can all interpret it to suit our imaginations. And, to top it all off, it is constantly revolving.

Get in touch to find out how we can make your virtual (reality) ideas a reality!

Happy New Year!...

January 28th

February 26th

March 28th

April 13th

September 11th

Now you’re probably wondering what all these dates are. Would it surprise you to know that these, just like the largely celebrated January 1st, are all the start of a New Year? That almost every month of the calendar is celebrating a “New Year” somewhere in this world? From hiding knives and painting doors red to hitting walls with bread, people all across the globe have their own special way of celebrating their new year and the best part is, they do it when they please.

That having been said, we thought that now is a good time as any to wish everyone out there a very happy new year!

We are all for new beginnings but its almost pitiable that a maximum of 24% people really achieved their resolutions last year and a mere 38% even kept them up till halfway through the year.

Resolutions are simply promises. Promises to better. Now we think its safe to say that resolutions can be formed at any time of the year and that maybe we should start using more events as motivation to set new resolutions. How about the 50th Saturday of the year or your cousins’ friends’ husbands birthday? That, to us, sounds like a good enough occasion to form a new resolution.

That’s why, at PurpleGlo, you will at any time of the year find us with our hands full and heads bent – experimenting, researching, innovating and improvising. We have promised our clients and ourselves to keep the excitement going and most importantly, to keep resoluting!

Rediscovering Technolo...

Technology is on a constant roll to make our lives easier and I am not one to complain. Turns out, we now have refrigerators that not only send you emails when you are out of a particular item, but also place orders for you. No more trips to the supermarket needed I guess.

The Radio Frequency Identification tags, usually better known, as RFID tags are a technology most of us have heard of, yet, few of us know about – we all know Salik don’t we?

Rumor has it; they have been called the ‘Duct tape of this generation’. But quite simply put, RFID tags are small chips that carry data and work in much the same way as barcodes – creating communication between a tag and a reader. Well, apart from the fact that, from making sure golf balls don’t get lost to tracking cows, these things are doing it all!

In the form of edible tags and fancy wristbands, RFID tags are becoming increasingly popular amongst event planners. Say, you’ve got an event to plan and have all kinds of details to deal with – registration, sponsors and social media being only a few. Let’s have a look at how RFID tags would make this all easier.

  1. There are hundreds of visitors flocking in to your event and you need to accommodate them all – fast! A quick tap of their band and you’ve got almost non-existent queues, no hassle of fraud tickets and a live update of your venues capacity.

  1. Social media awareness of an event in todays time has become vital and RFID tags are here to, once again, make your life easy.  The visitors can ‘check in’ at booths around the venue, share pre-determined content and even upload photos straight to their social media accounts simply with the tap of a band.

  1. How many event planners can say they had a tangible return of investment to show their sponsors while the event was going on? With RFID tags you can now do exactly that! As the event attendees visit the sponsor booths, with the tap of a band the sponsors can acquire all their information, keep track of the footfall and provide a unique engagement all in one.

Happy visitors and happy sponsors mean a happy event planner.

Happy planning, Happy tapping!

Collaboration, Not Rep...

How many times have you come across an article that starts with a quote?

Keep counting ..

Alright, you can now add one more to the list.

“NONE OF US IS AS SMART AS ALL OF US”

There are multiple others that go along the lines of many hands making lighter work and how unity is strength and I’m not one to challenge that but who says you have to all be working together on the same thing at the same time. It could be 10 years apart for all I know. Confused? Read on.

I really do wonder who came up with the concept of collaboration. Cross-pollination. Co-production. Call it what you may, the point remains the same – its brilliant. Granted that picking your colleagues brains every now and then (thank you Jatin) is considered collaboration too but lets focus on the synergy of different products, different mindsets – the synergy of diversity.

Nearly every new idea is a synthesis of other ideas. Look around yourself. Go on, do it now. The amount of ‘creations’ you will see around you that are simply the offspring of existing products will never cease to amaze you.

Someone did put a clock and a bell together to create the alarm clock didn’t they?

A lot of us might like to use the term ‘rip off’ or something along those (inane) lines. But, lets be honest, its absolutely genius. And we, at PurpleGlo, have embraced this ingenuity.

Who would’ve thought an energy drink and a camera could collaborate, and then along came Red Bull Stratos ..

We take inspiration from the pioneers of the industry and take pride in our creations .. stay tuned to find out how we bring hashtags and canvases together at the hands of event attendees.

P.S. – the next time you are staring at your laptop, wracking your brains for ideas, remember that someone decided to put a monitor, cpu and a mouse together and your inspiration, could be staring right at you..

Experiencing the Marke...

One quick stop. I promised myself. That would be it. I will not get distracted by the gummy bears, nor the nutella and definitely not the glistening chocolate cake that is sure to be calling out my name.

I stood outside the supermarket and gave myself this pep talk for what I think must be the 79th time. A bit too precise to be true but I am sure we all get what I mean. I was there to buy milk and only milk. Not brownies and cheese and that new lotion that just launched (what’s it called?), nope, no coffee, not even the detergent with a new fragrance.

I had been so determined to walk straight in to the supermarket and walk out with nothing but milk. Oh, and bread. Because that’s all I needed, right? Well, the two promoters selling me chicken nuggets and a shade of lipstick that was ‘made for me’ seemed to think otherwise. And, now, here I was at my car, an hour later, trying to get a trolley full of supermarket bags to fit in my trunk.

As I got in to the drivers seat and prepared to drive off I was hit with the sudden urge to solve this mystery once and for all. There has to be a logical reason to how a supposedly quick trip to the supermarket ends up turning in to a whole expedition by itself. Granted that the supermarket has very strategically placed the milk right at the corner, making sure you pass by all the aisles possible before you get to the everyday stuff, but that cant be it. It can’t be a complete lack of self-constraint either.

As I backtracked, I began to realize. One thing at a time, I can almost hear myself subconsciously marking the efforts of these guys.

Traalalala.. lala .. la ..

The cheek of them! They had used my very own senses against me. By captivating each of my five senses at every corner, the supermarket had not only managed to hypnotize me somehow but also given me an experience I almost couldn’t wait for again..

What if everything could be experienced the same way? What if everyone used the same techniques? What if it is already being done? What if .. what if it’s called Experiential Marketing.

PurpleGlo – In a Nut...

In todays era, we’ve all come to a point where there is little or no difference between your digital life and let’s see, how should we put it – real life? Remember those days when you allowed yourself a set number of hours on the Internet? And now? Your phone has basically become your life support system.

Let’s face it. Distinguishing the digital and physical world apart has become not just next to impossible, it is now, almost .. unnecessary. This, speculation, came to Christine Dwairi several years ago. So, 21 year-old Christine, straight out of college, set out to bridge the gap between the digital and physical world.

Always having been one to embrace innovation, she understood that it was time to take technology further than Smart Phones and Powerpoint presentations. After exploring quite a few options, Christine stumbled upon the technology and brought it to us as the BlackBox Social Media Printer.

Great things often start small and in much the same way, PurpleGlo was born. It all started off with just the BlackBox Social Media Printer and then branched out to offering complete digital and experiential solutions, all while staying true to its core belief that any idea can come to life.

The color Purple combines the true essence of blue and the fierce energy of red and we at PurpleGlo, in much the same way, strive to retain the crux of Marketing while adding the eccentric touch of creativity. Ever used a Blower Photo Booth to promote a racing car? Or a motion game to teach Water Sustainability? We have.

PurpleGlo – In a Nutshell

In todays era, we’ve all come to a point where there is little or no difference between your digital life and let’s see, how should we put it – real life? Remember those days when you allowed yourself a set number of hours on the Internet? And now? Your phone has basically become your life support system.

Conceptualizing at Gun...

How many times have you had someone telling you to come up with something different? Countless number of times. Great. To top it off they’ve had the audacity to – the horror of horrors; give you a timeframe to come up with something different?!

Acceptable? Well, not so much. Eight out of ten times your inner voice shouts out “I need more time”.  To be fair, it is probably true. Ideas don’t just hatch overnight.  In spite of that, unfortunately, in this industry of client pitches, deadlines and stressed bosses, lazing around until inspiration strikes us, is a luxury we cannot afford.

As tempted as you might be to back up your need of extra time with Darwin’s theory of evolution (it took him ages!) – lets be real. What you’ve been asked for needs to be done and it needs to be done within the timeframe. You have 5 minutes to nurse your wounded creative ego before you brush it all aside and get down to business.

Regardless of whether you are harnessing your creativity to come up with ideas for a product launch, ad campaign or film script; mental blocks are inevitable. Creating thoughts that turn into value is a strenuous task in itself but believe it or not, limitations have proved to enhance your thinking capabilities.

Contrary to popular beliefs, you can work within a time frame. Here are three amendments to the unwritten law of ‘Conceptualization’:

You can work within a timeframe – I

There’s absolutely no room for endless procrastination. When you are on a strict time schedule, that is all the time you have to wow everyone. This constant nagging in the back of your head is exactly what will keep you on the rails and bring you back when you venture off into lalaland.

You can work within a timeframe – II

Amongst many other demons of creating, one of the most vicious is second guessing. With a time constraint, you leave little or no room for evaluating and then reevaluating your ideas. As soon as that sliver of doubt starts squeezing its way through, throw it right out and rely on your gut feeling.\

You can work within a timeframe – III

You’re never going to know your limits unless you push yourself to them. The challenge of meeting the deadline will not only get you to push your boundaries but will also leave you with a sense of achievement.

Embrace the positive aspects of time limitations. No more grumbling, simply put your mind to it and just go with it!

Traffic jams drive us ...

Are you stuck in bumper to bumper traffic? Again. What a waste of your precious time eh? Well, the truth is whether you like it or not it’s happening anyway. Why not make the most out of it?  Between all the work in the office and friends and family, you’re probably wondering “What about me”. What about time for yourself? Well, get stuck in traffic. The perfect solution.

Here’s some ways to make the most out of traffic:

TAKE IN YOUR SURROUNDINGS

Traffic is the perfect excuse to unashamedly stare at people passing by. Watch out for mothers scolding sulking kids and let your imagination run wild with the scenario. Also, depending on what amuses you, nose picking and open-mouthed sleeping are only a few sources of entertainment.

CATCH UP ON YOUR READING

Blessed is our generation for technology has come far. Sit back with your eyes on the road while audiobooks, talkshows and podcasts enlighten you.

CALL YOUR MUM

Plug in the Bluetooth , make the call. Regardless of whether you want to go on a rant for half an hour, need a boost of self-esteem or just someone to talk to, she will be more than happy to oblige. To top it off, she’s happy to hear from you.

BRUSH UP ON YOUR PUBLIC SPEAKING SKILLS

Who cares if you’ve got a big speech coming up or not. It’s always great to know what you sound like. Take a few minutes to scrutinize the last conversation you had with someone or record your self talking for at least 2 minutes straight.

IF I WAS…

Observe the almost millions of Dirhams worth of billboard ads around you. If you were the creative behind them, how would you do it differently?

TO-DO LIST

Chances are that you have hundreds of trivial yet noteworthy things to do that you haven’t gotten around to. List them all out with dates beside them – grocery shopping, short term goals, long term goals etc. Best part is, these lists will haunt you everyday to and from work resulting in getting things done. Eventually.

MEDITATE

No need for closed eyes and crossed legs. Simply put away your phone and focus on the present – your surroundings and senses. You even have the perfect excuse for being disconnected from calls, emails and messages – You were driving.

Who knows, you might even start looking forward to those hours that you first thought were pure torture…

The Hashtag Game...

Fortunately or unfortunately, Social Media in today’s time is more than just a passing trend. I believe its here to stay.

The way Instagram has ensured that you will only see what you like is brilliant. A good way to start getting that response from crowds is hashtags. Hashtags improve visibility and get you more followers.

Having said that, I must warn you that you will come across some very absurd hashtags as you explore. As much as we would all like to overlook them as something trivial, these hashtags are not going anywhere. In fact, they are probably taking you places. While we’re at it, the least we can do is make sense of what they mean and find out how popular they really are.

#instagood – 484 million hashtags
Extra proud of a particular picture? Let your audience know. This is one of the most popular hashtags there are. Hold on to the true essence of your photography skills and accompany this with #nofilter (Suggesting you haven’t edited the picture). Most people insist every picture that goes up is their best. Why not.

#TBT – 344 million hashtags
Throwback Thursday is a perfect awww trigger. Your followers scroll, scroll, scroll and they see your picture and they are hit with a wave of nostalgia and voila. Instantaneous connection with your followers. Post a funny memory that your audience can empathize with and wait for them to tell you just how much they relate.

#igers – 198 million hashtags
Turns out, this one means nothing more than being an Instagrammer. A group of you are #igers. Fascinating.
Get out there and connect with your audience, show them you are just like they are. An instagrammer. Be a part of them because lets be honest, you already are. Embrace it.

#instamood – 176 million hashtags
Give your pictures a human feel. Use this hashtag to reflect your mood, this, along with giving your pictures the visibility you’re looking for also gives you the chance to control how you want to be perceived by the audience.

#l4l – 110 million hashtags
Not being sure whether this was part of a secret coded geek language, it did take me a while to figure out. But apparently, L4L simply means – like for like. With everyone out there hungry for likes, this gives your likers an incentive to like your picture – You like theirs back!
A ‘You scratch my back, I scratch yours’ concept, which is great if you’re just starting out.

Remember not to overuse the hashtags, not everything deserves a hashtag! #dont #hashtag #the #hashtag

Stay #instacool. Stay #PurpleGlo
